After 3 entries I have finally arrived at the most touchy part - Religion. One must be both brave and foolish to discuss the Religion of others. As I am about to do so I ask once again for open minds and open hearts and respectfully remind all that everyone is free to decide what to believe. If my opinion disrespects yours in any way I am sorry.
This last entry on Discussion of Life after my visit to the Hare Krishna seminar deals with a statement from the Monk. He mentioned that while he doesn't mean to disrespect any other religion - Hare Krishna and its bible Bhagavad Gita is a PhD in Spirituality and the most important book ever written. He mentioned that these stories were told by Krishna (God) 5 thousand years ago and contain the pure knowledge, whereas other great messengers and ascended beings only told their peers what they could understand. He said that Bhagavad Gita tells about what God is really like, what He wears, what He looks like, etc.
Thus if I understand it correctly the Monk put down other religions for their partial truths and elevated his. In doing so, in my opinion, he made the same mistake that others make - think they know the truth and others don't. I always find it interesting to hear people who say they know everything where by stating that they are showing the very opposite.
Why must we as a people always separate into groups and strive for differentiation? Do we really think that God likes one group better than another? In whose interest are we being driven into conflict? Why must we take the words of others as truth without seeking for our own? I find so much good in religion as it tries to feed the hungry, help the suffering and provide a supporting community. I love people getting together in prayer and celebration. All religions teach acceptance, all religions teach enlightenment and all of them stress Love. Why not leave it at that? So I say to the World - no group is stronger than the whole, you are ONE people. Live as ONE.

Living as one would really suck. Imagine all people living as one: this would take all the beauty of various beliefs people have, different traditions, different holidays, different customs! It's the different ideas and beliefs that make life interesting, that make us want to travel and experience life in a different light.
PS: who said that there is only one God? What if the hindus are right and there are many?
Thank you Anonymous for your comments. Let me clarify, when I said we should live as one I meant let us focus on our similarities and learn from the differences. I meant the opposite from what separation means in terms of saying that one is better than another. When you do so the people are encouraged not to learn from each other and go into their own circles. I wish for us to realize that we are "one" as in made from the same stuff and respect each other.
As to the subject of 1 God or many...I believe there is 1 source and we can call it what we wish. That 1 source however, just like people has infinite traits. That is what I imagine Hindus are calling multiple Gods. They "materialize" each trait as a unique God.
That is exactly what turns me off in religion, the premise that “we are right, and others are not”. Not only do we do that, we also try to convert others or wage a war on “wrong ones”, or judge them, or prevent them from mixing with the “right ones”. Meanwhile, the universe probably thinks “come on my silly babies, I love you all the same.” But we don’t want to be loved all the same. We want to be the special ones, the right ones. Makes us feel important and proud of being us. What a human way of interpreting God…
Living as one is respecting others, not following the same traditions. We should be able to keep our diversity, yet start living as if we were all entitled to our own opinions (as long as those opinions are peaceful). But there are so many shades of grey, and traditions are blending into religion in many cases, that it not very easy. I hope every generation is a bit more open to the idea of us being “one”, a colorful collection of different people that form one respectful human nation. Under God, Gods, Sun, or nothign at all, whatever ones chooses to believe.

I don't really get it. It sounds like Dick has an opinion, yet doesn't care to disclose it beyond the fact that he disagrees with our understanding of things. If you care enough to read it and tell us that you disagree, tell me your point of view. Sarcasm is great, but please explain beyond the 72 virgins. ;)
Well Maria, you see, Dick is a simple man. The sight of 72 virgins is enough for him to understand that Allah is the only true way to salvation. Being a Dick, Dick wants the virgins and is willing to work for them!
To answer your question, let me explain beyong the mere mention of 72 virgins: virgins are females who have never had an intercourse. That is, they could have anal intercourse, but not vaginal. They are also allowed to give BJs, and still be virgins! When a woman looses her virginy, a dick enters her vigina and breaks her hymen, causing her to bleed most of the time. This proves to Dick that his dick was the first dick, and no other Dick put his dick in the vagina. This is very attractive to Dick (me), and alas: Allah is great for offering 72 virgins!
You should follow Allah's law, and quickly put hijab over yourself or else prophet Muhamed will order a jihad on your soul!
